Hungarian mineral water found in Sweetwater?!

Well, not quite, but almost. The team has dug up various objects over recent months, including an old green bottle that has quite a fascinating story.

The bottle is stamped ‘Hunyadi Janos Bitterquelle’ and after a bit more ‘digging’ it turns out the item has travelled all the way from Budapest and dates back to the 19th century.

The bottle was made by the Andreas Saxlehner Mineral Spring Water Company, and the brand was named after Hunyadi Janos, a 15th century Hungarian military hero. The water was said to have healing qualities, which included helping with respiration, circulation, digestion…and relieving hemorrhoids…!
